Creating space for clarity and connection, one meaningful conversation at a time.
Hi, I'm April.
I'm a certified end-of-life doula with training in grief, anticipatory grief, and holistic support, but the heart of my work is much simpler:
I listen.
I believe people deserve to be met where they are — without judgment, pressure, or someone trying to fix what they're feeling.
Sacred Horizons grew from my belief that families shouldn't have to wait until a crisis to begin the conversations that matter most.
My Goal Is...
To create a compassionate space where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported, while keeping the person whose life and wishes are being discussed at the heart of the conversation.
Families often know there are conversations they need to have, but knowing how to begin can be the hardest part.
Wishes for the future, changing care needs, aging, illness, end-of-life preferences, family concerns, anticipatory grief, or simply what matters most when circumstances change — these conversations can carry a lot of emotion.
I help families slow down long enough to listen to one another, ask the questions that matter, and better understand each person's needs and wishes before a crisis forces decisions.
There is no expectation that everything must be resolved in one conversation. .
Some conversations simply need a gentle beginning.
You Don't Have to Wait for a Crisis
Family Conversations
A neutral, compassionate space for families who know something needs to be discussed but aren't sure where or how to begin.
Planning & Preparation
Support exploring wishes, priorities, care preferences, and the conversations families often postpone until circumstances make them urgent.
End-of-Life & Anticipatory Grief Support
Non-medical support for individuals and families navigating serious illness, changing care needs, end-of-life preparation, anticipatory grief, and transition.
Legacy & Reflection
Space to tell stories, preserve memories, reflect on a life well lived, and share the things someone wants their loved ones to remember.
Not sure where your needs fit?
That's okay.
Life doesn't always fit neatly into a category. Tell me a little about what you're navigating and what matters most to you right now, and together we'll find a meaningful place to begin.
The Power of Presence
You don't always need the right words. Sometimes you just need to be willing to stay.
When someone we love is grieving, afraid, overwhelmed, facing illness, preparing for change, or nearing the end of life, our instinct may be to do something - find the right words, offer advice, solve the problem, or make things feel better.
But some experiences aren't problems waiting to be solved.
Sometimes presence looks like sitting quietly beside someone while they cry. Listening to a story you’ve heard already heard because they need to tell it again. Holding a hand when touch is welcomed. Sharing memories and laughter. Allowing silence without rushing to fill it.
Sometimes showing up is enough.
Presence also means making room for people to experience things differently. One person may cry while another becomes quiet. Someone may need to talk: someone else may need space. There is no single right way to move through grief, uncertainty, illness, or transition.
My role is not to make everyone feel the same. It is to make room for everyone to be human.
And when words are difficult, sometimes the most meaningful things we can communicate is simply:
You are seen.
You are heard.
You matter.
And right now, you are not alone.
